First among them is the always-on Retina display. This allows the time and other important information to always be visible. The new Apple Watch also comes with a number of display tech that allows it to switch from 60Hz, all the way down to 1Hz. This allows it to maintain its 18-hour battery life.
The new Apple Watch Series 5 also features more navigation tools, including the built-in compass. This shows not only your heading, but also elevation, latitude and longitude. Third party apps can also make use of these new features, adding these information to be displayed on the apps. Apple is also giving cellular models of the new generation Watch the ability to make emergency calls internationally. Regardless of where you buy the Apple Watch Series 5, as long as you’re in one of the 150 countries that support this, the Watch can call emergency services even without a mobile plan active.
The Apple Watch Series five will be available starting 20 September. The base GPS model starts from US$399 (~RM1662), while the ones with mobile data connectivity start from US$499 (~RM2079). It comes with the usual aluminum and stainless steel cases, as well as the previously rumoured titanium and ceramic cases. Like last year, the company announced a drop in price of the Apple Watch Series 3. It’s now down to US$199 (~RM829). This change doesn’t seem to be reflected on the Apple Malaysia site just yet.
