Statistically, the division has earned US$2.2 billion (~RM9.1 billion) for Broadcom in its 2019 fiscal year. It’s a plus point that has led the parent company to project the division’s value by the proposed sum. At the time of writing, Broadcom is said to still be looking for buyers, but rumours have that Apple has expressed interest in the unit. Which isn’t surprising. Earlier this year, Apple officially acquired Intel’s mobile modem business to the value of US$1 billion (~RM4.14 billion). By purchasing the division, Apple basically gained access to all the division’s work and technology. Technology that it will undoubtedly use to expand and advance its own 5G modem development and research. (Source: Apple Insider // Image: 9to5Mac)
