ORIGINAL STORY (7:06 PM): It has come to our attention that Digi is facing network disruption at the moment. This time around, it has affected customers ability to make outgoing calls even though the signal bar on their phone did not show anything out of ordinary. At the same time, they may not be able to utilise the telco’s USSD code to top-up their prepaid account, check their account status, and other related operations as well. The disruption seemed to have begun since a few hours ago based on the complaints that have been flooding Digi’s social media channels. Since the telco has yet to make any specific announcement regarding this disruption, the cause and scale are not known at the moment. Nevertheless, the telco expected the recovery process to complete around 9 PM according to a reply by Digi’s customer service on Twitter:
— Digi (@digitelco) August 17, 2020 We are now reaching out to Digi representative to obtain further information regarding the disruption. UPDATE (7:38 PM): Digi has since rectified the issue that blocks customers from making outgoing calls, much earlier than what the telco has originally anticipated. We have independently verified this through several Digi Postpaid and Prepaid lines.
— Digi (@digitelco) August 17, 2020 However, the cause of the network disruption is unknown. The mobile provider network has chosen not to provide further explanations about the incident.
