Among potential implications of this suspension on Huawei includes losing access to Android updates and the ability to utilize the standard version of the operating system. That being said, Huawei will still have access to the barebone version of Android called Android Open Source Project (AOSP) which doesn’t require a commercial license from Google.
On another hand, Huawei devices might also lose access to Google’s services such as Google Play, Google Cloud, Gmail, YouTube, and many more. It goes without saying that this will have a huge impact on consumers that owned Android-based Huawei phones and tablets although customers in China are likely not to be affected since many Google apps are not accessible over there. Since Google and other Alphabet Inc’s subsidiaries are technically United States corporations, they don’t really have much choice when it comes to this ban. At this moment, Google has yet to provide detailed confirmation to the report but has stated that Google Play and Google Play Protect will continue to be working for existing Huawei devices.
