The instant delivery pilot appears as a separate store on the Grab app and has a few key differences from the regular GrabSupermarket. For one thing, there is a delivery fee that varies by location just like the other stores in the Mart section, whereas the flagship store provides free deliveries. Moreover, the window to order is also smaller as the store is only open from 9am to 3pm.
Take note that the pilot store’s offering also differs slightly, as it does not carry certain perishable items such as fresh vegetables, fruits, or poultry. As of now, it only carries dairy, food essentials, snacks, household goods, beauty & personal care, frozen poultry, seafood, and meat, and a few organic vegetables, though Grab added that it plans to expand its selection in the near future. The concept isn’t new, as Foodpanda’s Pandamart, which launched around the same time, provided instant grocery deliveries from the beginning. Delivery-newcomer AirAsia also recently introduced its own same-day delivery, Fresh Xpress, for its grocery delivery service AirAsia Fresh.
