According to a post on Weibo, the person claims to have obtained insider information. Huawei has struck a deal with Samsung; the Korean electronics giant all the OLED panels for the P30 flagship smartphones. There is a handful of reasons for Huawei to change its supplier. Samsung is one of the largest OLED suppliers in the industry. The company has the manpower to meet the high demands of OLED panels. Apple and Xiaomi also rely on Samsung to get OLED panels for flagships.
This is not the first time Huawei had business deals with Samsung. The previous P20 Pro featured Samsung’s OLED panels. But for the following Mate 20 Pro, the OLED panels comes two different suppliers. Namely, BOE and LG. This business plan has affected the sale of Mate 20 Pro during the launch. Many users who received the Mate 20 Pro with the LG panel experienced problems while the BOE panels work fine.
Assuming that the rumour is legitimate, it should be interesting to see the P30 flagships with OLED displays. However, the P30 flagships will only be getting FHD+ panels because Samsung usually reserves its QHD panels for its own devices. (Source: GSMArena, Notebookcheck)
