According to MacRumours (yes, you read that right), this speculation came from famed analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in a research note with TF International Securities. In the note, Kuo stated that the Pro variant of the Huawei P40 would include a periscope camera that features a prism and two mirrors that extends its field of view, which will result in 10x zoom capabilities at 8MP resolution. It’s aperture is reportedly at f/4.0. Kuo also mentioned that the non-Pro variant will still include a periscope camera, but at only 5x zoom. The analyst predicts that Huawei will also equip the 5X optical periscope lens in its other high-end smartphones including the Nova and Mate series. While the information on the P40 series’ camera provided by Kuo is interesting, it’s best that we keep our expectations in check until we hear an official word from Huawei themselves. For now, the company has revealed that the Huawei P40 series is expected to launch during a special event in Paris sometime in March of next year.
