The clip was posted via NVIDIA’s official GeForce Twitter account (@NVIDIAGeForce) and is just six seconds long. While it obviously serves to keep its adoring fanbase informed and reminded about its upcoming event, the clip also shows off the one thing that everyone is waiting for: an animated still of what appears to be a mobile NVIDIA GPU and its PCB, sitting within what is clearly a laptop enclosure.
— NVIDIA GeForce (@NVIDIAGeForce) January 9, 2021 NVIDIA first launched its GeForce RTX 30 series GPU lineup back in September 2020, starting with the RTX 3090, RTX 3080, and the RTX 3070 in the following month. Given the company’s track record, it was only a matter of time before expectations for mobile variants of NVIDIA’s Ampere GPU would start making their way online. That isn’t to say that we weren’t already aware of the existence of NVIDIA’s next-generation mobile RTX 30 series GPUs. As it stands, ASUS and Gigabyte have already let slip the existence of their laptops, fitting with a combination of NVIDIA’s RTX 30 series mobile GPUs and AMD Ryzen 5000 series mobile CPUs. Another recent rumour specifically fingers a mobile version of the RTX 3080 and how, unlike its desktop counterpart, it would use GDDR6 instead of GDDR6X, but will have 16GB of it instead of 10GB.
In any case, we’ll just have to wait until 13 January to find out what NVIDIA has in store for us. (Source: NVIDIA via Twitter)
