News of this was first brought to light by Chinese website ITHome, citing a statement by HMD Global’s Chinese product manager Zhang Yucheng which was posted on Weibo. According to Bloomberg, Huawei’s Deputy Chairman and Rotating Chairman Eric Xu noted that the company’s self-driving technology is ahead of Tesla in allowing cars to cruise for over 1,000km without human intervention. Xu also said that the company would initially collaborate with three automakers to produce self-driving cars with the Huawei name as a sub-brand. This is apparently akin to how Intel has its logo on PCs. Huawei’s three partners are BAIC Group, Chongqing Changan Automobile Co, and Guangzhou Automobile Group Co....

According to Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business, the Mate Xs has caused a loss between US$60 and US$70 million ( between US$258 million and US$301 million). Even despite the phone’s RM11111 price tag. Yu explains that one of the reasons for the loss is due to the phone’s high production cost, with the flexible display being one of the most expensive components for the phone. While Yu doesn’t outrightly say it, it can also be reasoned that another reason behind the loss could be attributed to the lack of Google Mobile Services (GMS) on the Mate Xs....

Specs-wise, the Mate Xs will be powered by Huawei’s latest Kirin 990 5G SoC that currently powers the Mate 30 series smartphones as well. To recap, the Kirin 990 is built using the 7nm+ EUV process and features an integrated 5G modem. Along with a beefier Neural Processing Unit (NPU). Beyond those little details, there’s not a whole lot of information about the rest of the Mate Xs. Judging from the slide, though, the new device looks identical to the original Mate X, but as the old saying goes, you can’t judge a book by its cover....

Alongside 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage, the Vision S also comes standard with a 4K LCD panel with a Direct LED backlight that has a 120Hz refresh rate and a maximum brightness level of 350 nits. Additionally, Huawei also stated that the panel has DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage of 92% alongside low blue light and flicker-free technology. In terms of audio, the Vision S relies on two 10W speakers together with another two 10W tweeters....

Despite being different phones, they actually carry plenty of similar hardware. As of last night, authorised resellers and retailers posted up the local SRP for Intel’s 13th generation, with a total of six SKUs.
