When we reported about their launch last month, we had only touched on their base pricing. For this article though, we went through the Apple Watch Studio section of Apple Malaysia’s website and tracked down the full price range for both smartwatches, which is actually quite extensive given the multiple types of casing and straps that are available. So, let’s start with the Apple Watch SE which only comes with aluminium body....

Original article below (Published 16 March 2020, 3:52 PM): The HONOR 9X Pro has officially received an official launch date. According to the brand’s official site, the phone will be made available to the masses from 19 March onwards. In addition to the HONOR 9X Pro, HONOR will also be making its MagicBook available on the same day. Unfortunately, there’s still no official price tag for either device. At this point, it’s clear that the brand will only reveal that bit of information either as we get closer to the availability date or on launch day itself....

As a quick recap, the MagicBook model HONOR is bringing in features an AMD Ryzen 5 3500U processor with Radeon graphics cores. For memory, the notebook is fitted with 8GB RAM, and a 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD. The display is a 14-inch Full HD panel, but is not touch capacitive. Moving on, the notebook also features HONOR’s MagicLink 2.0 NFC function. That enables consumers who own an HONOR smartphone to wirelessly connect their device to the MagicBook with just a tap of the back....

Fortunately for Honor, the supposed vote was split evenly down the middle. The publication says that officials from the Pentagon and Energy Department were in favour of placing the company on the entity list, while those under the US Department of Commerce and State Department were against it. However, the Chinese consumer tech manufacturer is not out of the boiling hot water just yet, as a conclusion is still reportedly expected despite the vote ending up being a stalemate....

According to the game’s pre-order announcement page on the PlayStation website, you will be able to get both PS4 and PS5 versions of Horizon Forbidden West if you get the game’s Digital Deluxe, Collector’s or Regalla Editions. If you get the Standard or Special Edition versions, then you’ll be locked to a single platform. This comes as quite the bummer, as it means that if you don’t have a PS5 yet and have any intention to upgrade at all, you’ll need to get the Digital Deluxe edition at minimum....

As it turns out, the new laptop has quietly made its way to Malaysia and is now readily available through HP Malaysia’s online store as well as the brand’s official store in Lazada and Shopee. At the moment, only one set of specs are being offered through these stores though. Equipped with a 13.3-inch IPS panel with WUXGA resolution (1920 x 1200) alongside a maximum brightness level of 400nits and 100% sRGB colour gamut coverage, the Malaysian variant currently comes with AMD Ryzen 5 5600U processor and 8GB DDR4-3200 RAM....

Not much is known about the device. Presumably, the smartphone will feature “a cold wallet with key recovery” that essentially stores blockchain data. Apparently, its lightweightness applies to its overall functionality as well. HTC markets the Vive Flow as a headset for the casual user who wishes to enjoy VR content related to “wellbeing, brain training and productivity”, as well as some “light gaming”. It is standalone, where it is not required for the user to connect it to a device such as a PC. Instead, the Vive Flow comes with a specialised version of HTC’s Viveport Infinity which offers a wide library of Flow-compatible content for monthly subscription of US$5....

Design-wise, the FreeLace’s single cord physique seems to take a cue from the Jabra Halo Free and the BeatsX earphones. There’s a hub on each side of the cord, with the right hub housing the volume rocker and the function button that can be used to answer calls, control your music, and activate Apple’s Siri or Google Assistant. There’s more to the FreeLace than meets the eye too. In an effort to circumvent the usualy Bluetooth connectivity issues present with most wireless devices, the FreeLace’s right earbud can be detached....

First introduced in China last December before it was introduced to the global market in February, certain markets have indeed received the 2022 model but with 11th Gen Intel Core chip. For the upcoming release in Malaysia next month, it will come with the newer 12th Gen Intel Core chip instead. Specifically, the Malaysian-spec for the MateBook X Pro is equipped with an Intel Core i7-1260P chip which is also inclusive of Intel Iris Xe Graphics....

According to CNBC, the CEO of Huawei’s consumer business, Richard Yu has stated that the company will be launching its own operating system if the company permanently lost its access to Android. The same case will also applies to Windows as well although Microsoft so far has not yet released any official statement regarding the US ban on Huawei. Richard also revealed that the company’s in-house OS will be ready for consumers in China later this year....

The rumour comes by way of popular tipster Ishan Agarwal (@ishanagarwal24), who recently leaked a bunch of purported information about the P40 Pro on Twitter. Unfortunately, a new app store means having to repopulate it all over again. And while there are more and more apps being added – even apps specific to Malaysia – there are still a lot that’s missing. This is especially the case with popular messaging apps like WhatsApp and Telegram. But to address this problem is why Petal Search exists. At least, until the Huawei AppGallery is populated. Ultimately, Huawei would want you to be able to get all the apps from the AppGallery, so this is essentially a stopgap solution until that happens....

Technically speaking, iflix has supposedly been purchased by Ren Feng Media Tech Inc., which happens to be the mobile app arm of its parent company, Tencent Holdings. As a point of confirmation, a quick search of the iflix app on both Google Play and iOS reveal shows that the listed parent company’s name has been change to Ren Feng Media Tech Inc. It’s no secret that iflix has struggled to stay afloat for the last few years....

Given the maturity of streaming services in Malaysia, one might be dumbfounded that Disney has chosen Indonesia as the market to launch its much-anticipated streaming service in this region. Intel’s meandering isn’t new; the semiconductor has been mulling over outsourcing the manufacturing of some of its products since July last year. Traditionally, the company has always designed and made their chips in-house, so asking an outside foundry to make their chips is a pretty big deal. To date, it has considered asking TSMC and Samsung to manufacture its 7nm process, which is expected to land in 2023. Having said that, several analysts are dubious of Intel outsourcing its flagship chips to an outside company....

According to respective spokespeople, the two semiconductor companies were open to the idea of opening a foundry in the US. TSMC’s spokesperson also said that its company was already searching and evaluating suitable locations within the US. Having homegrown semiconductor companies like Intel building chip foundries on US soil has been a long-standing obsession with the current Trump administration. In Intel’s case, it’s part of the administration’s long-standing plan of reigning in US companies and getting them to build their factories and manufacturing plants – the majority of which are based in China – inside the US....
