As a quick refresher, the PICO 4 VR headset runs the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 chipset, and comes with a 1200PPI 4K+ display with 90Hz refresh rate. It makes use of what is known as Pancake optics to reduce the distance between the lens and display, reducing the size of the headset.
Being a standalone VR unit, the PICO 4 packs its own 5300mAh battery. But rather than having it be in front where the other components are, the battery pack sits at the back of the head strap for a more balanced weight distribution. The unit is rated as weighing 295g without the adjustable straps, which is pretty light for VR headsets. Coming with the VR headset itself are a pair of controllers, which will look familiar to anyone who is familiar with consumer VR tech. That being said, the company says these are 6DoF controllers, with what it calls HyperSense motors that improve immersion.
For its price, the PICO 4 VR headset starts from RM1699. This model comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space. You can also get a model which comes with 256GB of storage, though this is priced at RM1999 instead. Whichever model you prefer, the prices are pretty competitive compared to most other alternatives in the market. Both models are available now, but if you pick one up before 31 January 2023, PICO is also throwing in four games for free. Specifically for this weekend, that is between 14 and 16 October, to you can pick up either model of the PICO 4 with a RM100 discount.
