According to a report by PetaPixel, all photos and presets simply vanished when users updated the Lightroom to version 5.4 on iOS. After receiving complaints across Twitter, Reddit and its own forums, Adobe has confirmed that the issue was caused by the recent update.

Worst of all, the company mentioned that all lost data are unrecoverable if users did not sync their photos and/or presets to the Adobe cloud subscription. It also noted that some users may be able to recover their data from iPhone or iPad backups. The company also apologised to all users in their recent statement for the issue. Those who have not updated the Lightroom app on their iPads or iPhones are encouraged by Adobe to download and install the recently released 5.4.1 update instead to completely bypass this catastrophic problem. However, there’s not much that can be done for those who have updated to the previous 5.4 version of the app. As they say, better be safe than sorry – even if the fault is not our own. So be sure to frequently backup your work (and presets) on a different drive or on whichever cloud-based storage. And make a habit of clicking that Save icon every now and then.
