Jim Jannard, CEO of RED, posted on the H4V forums that the Hydrogen program was undergoing a “radical change”. Coincidentally, the post came just as RED took down a teaser for what was to be detachable modules for the Hydrogen One, from its site. In particular, the teaser image had the title “Modules that matter”, and a subtitle saying “Coming 2019”. The copy that follows hinted at modules that could increase a phone’s battery, expandable memory pack, as well as the expected interchangeable camera and lens modules. Beyond the post, Jannard provided nothing else on the page. Not even a hint towards the possible hardware that would be used by the Pro version of the Hydrogen One. Of course, it also doesn’t help that his forum post has been described as both cryptic and confusing. Nevertheless, Jannard did assure consumers that the current Hydrogen One is “alive and well”, and that some major updates relating to 4V will be heading to the phone over the coming weeks.
