The new memory technology runs on a combination of 24Gbps LPDDR4X chips, making them the fastest LPDDR4X chips in the brand’s arsenal, to-date. Specifically, the new 12GB LPDDR4X memory is a combination of four 24Gbps chips, based on Samsung’s 1y-nanometre process. Statistically, Samsung says that the these speeds will benefit future smartphones, especially devices that are designed for data-intensive tasks or multitasking. Samsung’s announcement of its new 12GB LPDDR4X uMCP memory was made at the annual Samsung Tech Day event at San Jose, California. In addition to this announcement, the company also unveiled its Exynos 990 SoC and 5G Exynos Modem 5123. Seeing how both Samsung’s new chipset and 5G modem are expected to go into mass production by the end of 2019, it’s looking very likely that we could be seeing devices sporting both components and running on the new LPDDR4X memory in future high-end smartphones.
