Best of all, the patent describes the wireless charging solution as being integrated into something akin to the Back Button accessory for the DualShock 4. This allows a single attachment to provide two features instead of one. It could also come with lights indicating the back buttons being mapped, as well as the controller’s current battery level.
The wireless charging part of the accessory will support Qi-standard wireless charging. This means you can charge it with any other Qi wireless charging pads. If Sony were to give it its own charging base, it will be able to charge multiple controllers at once. When you look at all the PlayStation-related patents that have recently seen the light of day, it does feel unrealistic to have all of them make it to the imminent next generation of consoles.
