The grip is compatible with the brand’s mirrorless cameras including the A9 series, A7 series, A6600, A6400, A6100, and also its Cyber Shot series such as the RX100 VII and RX0 II. The GP-VPT2BT connects to the cameras via Bluetooth, and could also function as a tabletop tripod by flipping out the legs on the grip’s lower half.
Aside from the aforementioned controls, the wireless grip also features a button for custom commands and a flip button that rotates the camera 180-degrees for self portrait shooting. Do keep in mind that although the grip provides tilt controls, it does not feature gimbal-like stabilisation. Sony claims that the GP-VPT2BT is moisture and dust resistant to a certain extent.
Sony Malaysia has confirmed that the new wireless grip will be available locally sometime this month but has not disclosed its price just yet. Just to give you an estimate on the latter, the GP-VPT2BT is sold in the US at a price point of US$140 (~RM570). (Source: Sony press release.)
