GamesIndustry.biz reports that the publisher is also working with Xbox on the Game Pass and other subscription services. Yosuke Matsuda, President of Square Enix, said “We are exploring at present both possibilities.”

If Square Enix does go ahead with its plans for a subscription service, it will be where you’ll find the publisher’s older games. According to Game Informer, the company is also working on making its older games available digitally. These games date all the way back to the NES days, and finding their original source code also appears to be a challenge for the company.

While the fact that Square Enix is planning to make its classic games available again is good news, the subscription service can certainly be contentious. Let’s hope that the former comes first. (Source: GamesIndustry.biz, Game Informer)
