The issue was first reported late last week on tech blog PiunikaWeb as users started having issues with the popular social networking and micro-blogging site’s iOS app. Those who already had the app installed in their devices were not able to browse, or search for content via the app. Using a mobile browser however confirmed that Tumblr itself was fine. The app disappeared from Apple’s App Store shortly after the issues above were highlighted, prompting many to suspect that Tumblr was removed as it was deemed to have broken App Store’s policies on inappropriate content. It is a known fact that Tumblr has inadvertently become a host for significant amounts of adult content on its platform. MCMC’s ban on Tumblr was only recently lifted, while Indonesia banned the site earlier this year over pornography concerns. As of this morning, neither Tumblr or Apple have offered any official explanation to what led to the removal. Tumblr, via their social media channels have shared an update that ‘they are working to resolve the issues’.

— Tumblr Support (@Tumblrsupport) November 16, 2018 There is already a number of workarounds to get the iOS app working again, alternatively if Tumblr is your staple diet that you can’t live without, Android might just be your savior.
