Currently, the Postpaid 38 plan gives U Mobile users a monthly data limit of 30GB, with no restrictions on hotspot usage as long as you have not used up the quota. This is set to change starting from 17 August, with customers being limited to only 5GB per month moving forward.

The current rate is 3 sen/SMS to U Mobile network and 8 sen/SMS to other networks, but this will be raised to 15 sen/SMS to all networks. That is up to a fivefold increase for sending messages, but then again, SMS is not exactly a common method of communication for most Malaysians anymore. Postpaid 38 costs RM38 per month and comes with unlimited calls and 30GB of data. While it’s priced just a bit more than the U35 plan at RM35 per month, which comes with unlimited data, the Fair Usage Policy (FUP) for the latter is actually just 30GB, giving both plans effectively the same quota. That being said, Postpaid 38 still seems to provide more value as the upcoming 5GB hotspot allocation is still more than U35’s 3GB limit. Not to mention, Postpaid 38 comes with no speed limit while U35 only provides a maximum speed of 3Mbps for data.
