Based on the first render, the phone comes with a dual main camera setup at the back. The interesting part lies on the front, where a notch with two cameras is placed at the bottom. Making it looks like the phone has been flipped upside down. The second image render shows many similarities with the first. The only notable difference is the front camera placement. However, instead of a notch, both front-facing cameras sensors have been placed in each corner of the phone’s bottom half.
Previously, Xiaomi released the Xiaomi Mi Mix, which has a front-facing camera located at the bottom. The patents bear some similarities to its predecessor, albeit with a far quirkier design elements thrown into the mix (no pun intended).
For the record, Xiaomi isn’t exactly the first brand to release a phone with its front-facing camera situated at the bottom. Back in 2011, Nokia had the N9; a Linux-based smartphone with a front-facing camera located at the bottom right corner of the phone. Just like any patent filing, there is no guarantee that this design will see the light of day.
